Original song title, composer and lyricist are unknown at this time (though as the song’s authors are not identified in the episode credits, we suspect the series creator and writer, Phil Dunning, may be the song’s lyricist (update[1]).
Performed by Patsy Lowe (S01E06 – link below).
Behind picket fences,
On cul-de-sac roads,
That dampened your spirit,
for why, you just didn’t know,
You wore your wife’s clothing,
While she was at church,
And it made you feel normal,
When normal life hurt,
Then you came through our door,
You’re not strange any more.
Cos some of us belong to the night,
Disco lights are here to guide you,
Some of us belong to the night,
Leave those cares far behind you.
Some of us belong to the night.
Your rolodex flickers,
On the 31st floor,
And the sound of it echoes,
Off the white Formica walls.
And you dream of the weekend,
Tight white denim jeans,
From Rita the Eater,
The Disco Dancing Queen.
Then you came in to our door,
You ain’t strange any more.
Cos some of us belong to the night,
Disco lights are here to guide you,
Some of us belong to the night,
Leave those cares far behind you.
Some of us belong to the night,
Leave those cares far behind you.
Some of us belong to… the night.
The Song from ‘Smoggie Queens’ (2024)
I couldn’t find online the lyrics to this wonderful song, so I spent some time transcribing the song by listening to the live performance (Season 1, Episode 6). I present, above, what I heard.
Credit to the copyright holders – the composer & lyricist – whose names I don’t know at this time. When known I’ll add the information here (update[1])
